Amber's story
Amber has never met another dog she didn't immediately love and want to engage in play. She is high energy, full of life, adorable, silly, and wants to be an integral member of a family. Amber is a 42 lb "pocket" pit bull type dog who came to us through the ASPCA and is the definition of a survivor.
Amber would love to share her home with a confident, well-adjusted, well-behaved canine sibling (or siblings) who love to play - a lot! Most importantly, she is looking for an experienced, savvy adopter who will continue to work with her, help continue her transition to being part of a family, help her gain confidence, and help her learn to trust and love humans as much as she does other dogs. Although Amber shows flashes of being a happy, "normal" dog, she can be extremely shy when she does not have another dog by her side. She has a few "quirks" (who doesn't?!) and should be considered a flight risk when in new situations or when she is uncomfortable. At this time, a home with small children is not recommended.
Amber is cat friendly, house trained, and crate trained. She loves to play with toys and, for the most part, has learned what she is allowed to chew and what she isn't (she definitely missed out on puppyhood the first time around!). If you are looking for a grateful, adorable pup to add to your home and you are patient and willing to put the time and energy into Project Amber, we might just have the perfect dog for you. She will require some follow up medical tests down the road. Amber is currently in a foster home with multiple dogs and cats as she awaits her forever home!
